Trace minerals panel

This test is rarely useful for the reasons people usually ask about it.

What this test is

A trace minerals panel checks several minerals in your blood at once, such as selenium, manganese, or chromium. These minerals matter most for people on long-term tube or IV feeding. They also matter for people with a condition that affects how the body absorbs nutrients. In those cases, doctors do check and track these levels. For most other people, a broad trace minerals panel is not well supported for fatigue or general wellness. A panel with many minerals is also more likely to show one odd result, even when nothing is actually wrong. That odd result can lead to more tests or supplements you may not need. If you have a condition that affects nutrient absorption, or you need long-term nutrition support, tell your doctor. Then the right minerals can be checked.
