Urine mould toxin test (mycotoxins)

What this test is

Some labs offer a urine test for mycotoxins, which are substances made by mould. It is meant to check for 'mould illness' after time in a damp building. No regulator has approved this test for diagnosing illness, and there is no agreed level that shows someone is sick. Mycotoxins also show up in the urine of healthy people, mostly from food. Health authorities have reported cases where acting on these results led to the wrong diagnosis and costly, unneeded steps. If you're worried about a damp building, have the building checked for visible mould and moisture, and look at your symptoms with your doctor. Your symptoms are real and worth working up.
